Just a minute ago, Young Rising Sons released their new music video, entitled “Sad (Clap Your Hands).”
An alt-pop band from New Jersey, Young Rising Sons is composed of Andy Tongren (vocals, guitar), Julian Dimagiba (bass), and Steve Patrick (drums).
Dimagiba and Patrick grew up together in Red Bank, N.J. One night, after listening to Tongren perform acoustically in NYC, they spoke to him about taking over the duties of frontman in their band. Producers Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta took note of the band because of Tongren’s astonishing voice and the band’s obvious sonic chemistry.
Once signed, Young Rising Sons recorded and released their debut single “High.” The music video for “High” went viral overnight, attaining the number one spot on Hypem Twitter and scoring placement on YouTube’s music page. Signing with Interscope Records in 2014, the band dropped their self-titled EP and toured across North America, sharing the stage with Halsey, Bleachers, Kongos, and Weezer.
“SAD” opens with writhing synths flowing into a potent indie pop tune with a contagious rhythm and flooding energy. Harmonics full of percolating, exuberant colors infuse the tune with effervescent, infectious energy.
Tongren’s voice, cool and flamboyantly savory, exudes a smoldering boisterous energy and deliciously tight textures. Backing vocal harmonies imbue the tune with festive hues and assertive vitality.
The music video creates an indelible image of delight and exhilaration in the visual region of viewers’ brains, displaying a series of shots revolving around smiley faces. The images of yellow heads split by grins – in combination with the music – cause you to bubble with joy.
“SAD (Clap Your Hands)” is anything but sad. Young Rising Sons infuse this song with sparkles of scrumptious tonal happiness.
