If only we knew where to find one….
Just kidding! I make a Weekend Playlist featuring the creme-de-la-creme of music released this week. If you need something to jam out to, let’s get listening!
Yesterday’s World – TV Girl, George Clanton
In a psychedelic world of sounds, TV Girl and George Clanton bloom to life in “Yesterday’s World.” It’s a song that reminds you to have fun and dance in such a sobering time of year. The incorporation of funky beats, exotic instruments, and synthy vocals makes this a must- listen.
“Yesterday’s World” is everything you love about modern indie music mixed with a flare of the 60’s psychedelic era.
“Leash (Babygirl Original Soundtrack)” – Sky Ferreira
The movie starring Harris Dickinson and Nicole Kidman is sure to be a steamy favorite, and the lead single from the soundtrack by Sky Ferreira is a refreshing start. Edgy, sexy, and exciting, it’s everything that the film itself embodies.
“Leash” is certain to be the song that travels to TikTok after the movie releases, and gives us some much-needed indie pop rock. Not your average popstar, Sky Ferreira is here to make her mark.
“Body Talk (feat. Clementine Douglas)” – Alok
We are still very much in the disco dance era. Alok contributes another club banger with “Body Talk,” which features Clementine Douglas’ coaxing vocals and an entrancing back beat. One of my favorite songs released this week, this song was made for a night out in New York City…or any city, for that matter.
“The Great Magician” – Debbii Dawson
Equally impressive in lyricism and production, “The Great Magician” is a dynamic single from Debbii Dawson. A mixture of 80’s pop and Stevie Nicks, Dawson is an artist to keep an eye out for as we move into 2025.
“The Great Magician” builds throughout, picking up intensity and pace as Dawson effortlessly glides from bridge to chorus.
“Still In Love” – Chezile
If a song could embody yearning, “Still In Love” would be an easy candidate. As Chezile longs for a lost lover, this soulful, pleading ballad is filled to the brim with jazzy vocal runs and shows just how deep Chezile’s range is.
“Without You” – Petit Biscuit, Surf Mesa, JP Saxe
It’s not always easy to combine a love song with an electronic backing, but JP Saxe, Petit Biscuit, and Surf Mesa had no trouble with “Without You.”
tAll the best parts of a dance track with the catchy lyricism of JP Saxe, whose vocal ability is always astonishing. It’s a perfect song to round off the playlist this weekend!
