No…you’re not hallucinating. You really did see a bunch of Timothee Chalamet lookalikes competing for the ultimate prize of $50 (and bragging rights, of course.)

A few weeks ago, photos surfaced on “X” of posters scattered throughout New York City advertising none other than the Timothee Chalamet lookalike competition. There are times in life where Saturday Night Live couldn’t even write a better plot line.

A lot of similar posters are pasted throughout the city at any given moment…however, this event actually gained major traction. Hundreds flocked to Washington Square Park in New York City to compete, or at least watch greatness happen.

And as the event began at the park’s arch at around 1 PM on October 27, chaos ensued. There were Timothee Chalamet as Willy Wonka en masse, at every turn was a Timothee-as-Bob-Dylan, or even Chalamet as Paul Atreides in Dune.

Quickly, the New York Police Department showed up to try and stop the event from happening without a permit. There was a Timothee Chalamet lookalike arrested to protests of “Free Timmy!” The war raged on.

A supersized trophy was toted through the crowd. No one even knows if the actual prize money was truly awarded to the winner of the Timothee Chalamet lookalike competition, one dressed as Wonka Chalamet.

But perhaps the biggest miracle of all happened: Real Timothee Chalamet showed up. As fans waited in line for pictures with a doppelgänger, the Real Deal stepped up and asked for a photo.

As he removed his surgical mask and unveiled himself to be the original Timothee, screams erupted. The crowd flocked to Chalamet as if he were a member of The Beatles in their prime. After all, there would be no event without the existence of The Great Unknown actor.

And since this event was such an overwhelming success, I can’t wait to see the next lookalike competition that comes New York’s way.
