I Found The Perfect Way To Try New Wine From My Home
I’ve never been someone that is hugely into going out all the time, so when the stay-at-home orders came in I didn’t think I’d miss it much.
But over the last few months, I have really missed the excitement of trying new foods, and especially new wines with my friends. It’s just not the same going to the liquor store to pick up a bottle as it is going to a nice restaurant and being poured a glass of wine of the finest red on the menu, and then discussing the flavors in detail.
I know it’s not possible to go out at the moment, but I wanted to still find a way to try some good quality wines to review even if it is from my home. So I decided to look into wine clubs.
After some research, there was one that seemed like what I was looking for — Tasting Room.
Tasting Room curates a wine profile for you and sends you 6 full-sized bottles monthly, or every 2 or 3 months for around $12.50 a bottle.
You also get access to a personal wine concierge (worth $150), and online tasting experiences, bringing the vineyard experience home (worth $100).
I loved the sound of being in touch with my own concierge, and the fact that Tasting Room was such a good value, so I signed up.
Then I got to speak to the wine concierge who recommended some wines I might like to try. I had every faith in my concierge. She seemed to really know her stuff.
When my first shipment of wine arrived I was super excited to try all 6 bottles. I had never tried any of them before, but they were all to my exact taste. The concierge’s advice was interesting and she introduced me to new wines I had never tried before.
Most wine clubs use algorithms to select wines for us, which takes out the social aspect. There’s no discussing tastes or comparing knowledge – which is the fun part of trying new wines! Plus I’m really looking forward to the online tasting experience and getting even more socializing back with my wine.
Having my wine delivered to my doorstep every month is also super convenient. I’m trying to limit my exposure to public places and this has saved me 6 trips a month. But to be honest, even after things go back to normal I plan to keep my Tasting Room membership because it’s so convenient, and I’ll always have a concierge to advise me when I need to bring a bottle to any gatherings.
If you’re looking for a fun way to discover new wines, I’d highly recommend Tasting Room.
