Most Laundry Subscriptions Aren’t Worth It

Most Laundry Subscriptions Aren’t Worth It
My roommate’s cool, but the guy literally has a subscription for everything.

I’m all for convenience and anything that will make my life easier, but some of the subscriptions he’s signed up for are downright silly.

I mean, the guy is a member of the “dive bar shirts club” whatever that is.

Plus, he always has a ridiculously high pile of laundry stacked in his room. So, a few months ago, when I noticed it had magically disappeared, I figured he must have found some subscription service that came and did it for him. That, or his mom dropped by.

After grilling him, he told me that he had found a subscription service – Frey – they deliver laundry products right to your door. Unless they’re gonna come into my apartment, wash, and fold my laundry, then I’m not impressed.

He assured me that it smelled so good that it made doing laundry a little less awful. I shrugged it off as yet another of his unnecessary subscriptions until he told me I could try it myself for $1!

I checked out the Frey site and immediately liked the sleek packaging. I’ve never been a fan of the aroma of store-bought detergent, or how it makes my clothes feel, not to mention how it dries out my skin. But it seemed like my only option.

But Frey’s products are free from bad stuff like parabens and sulfates, so I gotta admit, even I was intrigued. It’s also way more concentrated than store-bought detergent, so you use less and actually save money. Now you’re talkin’.

I kept digging on the site and discovered Frey has other products besides detergent: fabric conditioner, there’s a stain remover spray, even a fragrance enhancer that keeps your clothes smelling fresh between washes.

The reviews are pretty epic, too. “My girlfriend keeps stealing my clothing so she can lay around in them and always have the smell of me around because “I’ve never smelled this good before”- LOL.

I signed up and gave them my info – I figured for a $1, I had nothing to lose. Plus, these guys actually care about the environmental impact of their products.

They plant a tree for every order they receive, they’re B Corp, and PETA certified, and their concentrated formula means you’ll use less, which both your clothes and the earth will appreciate.

I always put off doing laundry until the very last minute (I’m talking turning underwear inside out), so when my Frey samples arrived, I decided to bite the bullet.

Ok, it really does smell good. Like cologne mixed with something else, something earthy that I can’t quite put my finger on, but I like it. And a little really goes a long way.

My clothes came out smelling fresh, and they kept their shape.

The samples lasted for weeks, and by the time I ran out, Frey had shipped my Complete Laundry Package. It includes detergent, fabric conditioner, and dryer sheets. I hate being locked into subscriptions, but my Frey plan is easy to pause or cancel at any time.

It just makes sense and saves me money – for real. When I did the math, store -ought detergents can cost up to $0.92 a load, whereas Frey costs only $0.42 per load.

That, plus my clothes are retaining that new look, meaning I can wear them longer.

All I can say is that Frey is pretty awesome. I no longer have to worry about buying regular detergent, I’m saving money, and on top of that, I smell damn good.
