The Red Bull Music Festival continues all through May.
It’s time to get down…quite literally…at the Red Bull Music Festival’s Hasta Abajo (Get Down) event this Saturday, May 19th. In a tribute to tropical urban sound, the Reggaetón: Hasta Abajo music event will feature the sounds of The Noise (Ivy Queen, DJ Nelson, Ranking Stone, Alberto Stylee, Wiso G, DJ Negro), DJ Lobo, Rosa Pistola, and Riobama. This impressive roster will highlight the pioneers of the genre and Latin culture shifters.
Born out of the confluence of dancehall, hip-hop, and reggae en Español, Reggaetón has evolved tremendously from the mixtapes recorded in San Juan’s marquesinas to produce some of the world’s biggest stars today.
As Reggaetón music lovers take in the scene, sounds, and styles, they’ll not only have a blast as they party and play, but they’ll feel good knowing that all proceeds from ticket sales will go towards Rock Steady for Life, which is dedicated to helping those in Puerto Rico who have been affected by the wrath of Hurricane Maria. Giving back while getting into the groove is a win-win.
A big fan of The Noise’s Ivy Queen, AKA the “Queen of Reggaetón? None other than Cardi B. Cardi B has tweeted that she’s “A real idol for me. Her music was one of the first reggaetón songs I ever listened to.”
