NETFLIX | What’s coming to Netflix this September?

NETFLIX | What’s coming to Netflix this September?

If you were around in the 90’s and religiously watched cult hits like Pulp Fiction, chances are you’ll be digging what’s coming to Netflix this month.

The streaming service is going deep in the archives, pulling out nostalgic favorites like The Secret Garden, She’s Gotta Have it, and some Disney gems like Pocahontas and Beauty and the Beast. Also making a debut is Requiem for a Dream as well as the Noah Baumbach-directed indieThe Squid and the Whale. All in all, a long list of rewatches will soon be on your list this back to school season.

Of course, with the arrival of fall means the return of some of our favorite shows, too. Netflix is pulling out all the stops this month with a third season of Narcos, the series that revolved around the rise and fall of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. The new season revolves around the beginnings of the Cali cartel, with Pedro Pascal’s Javier Peña taking centerstage this time around. Bojack Horseman‘s fourth season will be worth a watch as well, with the trailer showing our favorite 80s sitcom horse may be missing. The Walking Dead‘s seventh season will also be coming to Netflix this month, ahead of it’s eighth season premiere this fall so you can catch up on everything Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes has been up to.

We’ve compiled a list of all the arrivals coming to Netflix this September. Read on below:

Narcos: Season 3 (September 1)

Narcos is one of Netflix’s more innovative, risk-taking productions – this third season is set to prove just that. The hugely successful series that told the tale of drug lord Pablo Escobar is now embarking on a new story to tell: the Cali cartel and their battle against the DEA. Pedro Pascal now takes centerstage as DEA Agent Javier Peña, on the hunt for justice. Pascal recently chatted with Cinema Blend and gave some insight on what sets this season apart from the rest: “People really watched the show as if they couldn’t google it. You can look up what happened, basically. And with the Cali Cartel it’s a little different, because you have to look a little harder. And as far as finding things out about Escobar, it’s such a narrow focus; you look at the king. Cali’s different. Not everyone knows who they were, how many there were. And that’s what I like about the third season so much. Because despite it all being structured around actual events, you still cannot see the things coming. There’s an unpredictable experience in watching the third season that I think we didn’t have in the first and the second.”

BoJack Horseman: Season 4 (September 8)

Netflix’s dark comedy animation BoJack Horseman is making a return with it’s fourth season – this time, BoJack seems to be missing. The trailer is devoid of any footage of him, but whether this is an actual narrative or just for visual effect remains to be seen. As refinery29 writes, “Yes, the animated series certainly gets dark — and, as the trailer shows, season 4 will likely be no exception. However, BoJack Horseman is also one of the funniest shows that streaming has to offer, thanks to its irreverent humor and all-too-accurate parodies of life in Hollywoo. (BoJack stole the “D” from the Hollywood sign, hence the name change.) The new trailer promises clown dentists, Todd participating in a “Sharc Jacobs” fashion show, and Mr. Peanutbutter running for governor under the platform of both “facts, and also feelings.”

The Walking Dead: Season 7 (September 8)

If you’re a fan of the Walking Dead, you’re well aware that it’s seventh season was considered by many as “brutal and the most shocking yet.” Many beloved characters (and body parts) were lost, making it hard for us to feel any hope for the survivors at all. However, if you’re behind, the entire season will be streaming on Netflix starting September 8, just enough time before the show’s eighth season premieres on October 22. The Walking Dead spinoff Fear the Walking Dead returns September 10.
