My Silent Bravery, aka Matthew Wade, just dropped Vol. 2 of Willing To Try, a planned trilogy of EPs, co-written with Jim McGorman. Three of the singles from Vol. 1 hit on multiple Billboard charts. The first single from Vol. 2 is “Everyday Is The Weekend,” and premieres on Popdust.
Describing his sound as “inspirational acoustic alternative pop rock music,” My Silent Bravery’s first song was for a high school project. A few years later, he sustained an injury to his back, herniated discs, while in Australia. He did a lot of soul searching during his protracted recovery, discovering Kabbalah. Realizing he wanted to “pay it forward,” he decided to create music to inspire and motivate others.
According to My Silent Bravery, “Every song has its own story and inspiration. I find I need the songs to resonate internally if I want others to be moved by them. For me, each song is a story, and I try to tell the story to the best of my ability. I then hope listeners connect with the stories, get drawn into them and relate emotionally and how it applies in their own lives.”
“Everyday Is The Weekend” opens with a shimmering guitar, crisp rhythm, and My Silent Bravery’s contagious tenor. A surf rock flavor pervades the melody, along with the stylish oozing radiance of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Games.” The amalgamation infuses the tune with simmering élan and charming sassiness.
Wade’s voice delivers subtle yet tautly buoyant timbres, infecting the song with ebullience and an electrifying breezy energy. The sizzling pizzazz of the music is disarmingly irresistible because of its languid riffs offset by a zesty pop punch.
Directed by Brad Wong, the video starts off with the dull predictability of corporate life, as office drones go about their day. Then everything erupts, as the workers shake off the patina of drudgery. Treating everyday as the weekend, they cut loose with fabulous dance moves. A convertible Mercedes Benz done in Mary Kay pink is the star of the video.
“Everyday Is The Weekend” is tight and right, gushing with oomph and seductive gusto.
