Head to the theaters this weekend for ABBA and acting!
If you loved
Mamma Mia when it was a hit in 2008, the past ten years must have gone by at a snail’s speed. But summer ’18 just picked up the pace with the sequel to the song-and-dance, star-studded sensation hitting theaters today, back with the original cast including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, and the rest of the bunch. To add even more flair to the Greece-based goodness…welcome the one-and-only Cher, playing grandma! Mamma Mia indeed!
The storyline is as fun as the first, this time taking us along on Sophie’s (Seyfried) journey as she finds herself pregnant in the very same place her late mom once was with her. A fresh-faced Lily James plays a younger version of Streep, giving audiences the background as to how things all began. And as entertaining as the tale is, the upbeat
ABBA soundtrack makes this movie amazing.
The original film featured plenty of hits from the Swedish pop group, intertwining lyrics and beats into unforgettable scenes. The pairing was so powerful that
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again will be full of even more ABBA selections, some which weren’t in the first film and others that are back to delight audiences yet again. Oh, and Cher? Watch as she belts out “Fernando” as only Cher can. Some other selections you’ll hear in the sequel include “Dancing Queen,” “Waterloo, “The Name of the Game,” “Mamma Mia,” (of course), and more ABBA favorites that will have viewers singing along from their seats.
Will
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again be another hit? The first film grossed more than $600 million worldwide. Ten years later, a stellar cast, a summer release, and even more ABBA indulgence? Mamma Mia is looking at millions and millions more!
