Since there’s a 365-day warranty and free shipping on returns, I wasn’t as mad at my husband for choosing to “surprise” me as I was the time he got me a barbecue grill for my birthday (for “us”). After all, I had nothing to lose. While we waited for the delivery, I started reading customer reviews online. I’ll admit the reviews of the 8-layer mattress had a lot of positive reviews, , but I still didn’t know what to expect from a mattress you can order online without ever trying it.
I assumed we’d have to hire help to lug our mattress up the stairs, but DreamCloud’sWhite Glove Service included delivery, set up, and the fee to get rid of your old mattress (which I was super happy to see go). So, we weren’t off to such a bad start, but it wasn’t until my first night’s sleep that I was willing to stop being so stubborn about ordering a mattress online. Why? It’s simple: that first night on our new mattress was the best sleep I’d had since college, when I had to set 6 alarms to get up in time for morning classes. The DreamCloud mattress felt like the perfect combination of soft and firm–the cushioning gave me that sink-into-the-mattress feeling, yet my back felt completely supported. Plus, because I couldn’t feel my husband’s constant movement during the night, we both got an uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep, and woke up feeling energized and refreshed.
It’s always the worst having to admit that you were wrong, but my husband eventually made up for his barbecue grill mishap, so I finally admitted that I was–OK, I’ll say it–wrong.. The DreamCloud gave me the most luxurious sleep I had in a long time—and it continues to several months later, making this the only New Year’s resolution that I can call an absolute success. So, I learned that my husband can (once in a blue moon) be right, and also not to judge a mattress by its cover, or in this case, by its box.
