Almost a year to the day of its release, Livingston has released the deluxe version of his debut album. A Hometown Odyssey: The Story Continues gives fans 23 tracks including the new single “Brainstorm.”

Over the past few years, the Denton, Texas native has grown a huge social media following and racked up streams. His powerful vocals and arena-ready production have connected with listeners around the world.

We caught up with Livingston in LA to talk about the album and upcoming US tour (dates below).

What’s new for fans on the deluxe version of A Hometown Odyssey?
Brighter, more electric emotion. I want people to find the song that speaks to their story and use it to chase whatever lights them up.

There’s a lot of emotion behind the latest single “Brainstorm.” Did you write it from personal experience, or is it a “playing a character” kind of thing?
Personal experience. I’ve been stuck in my head a lot of my life. I think about ways to break out of it a lot, and get frustrated about it. This song captures that energy.

Your sound reminds me of big arena acts like Imagine Dragons and OneRepublic. Have you always imagined yourself playing in a huge venue?
Yes. I can’t wait to headline the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. I saw Coldplay there.

Speaking of shows, what’s been your favorite space to perform in?
There’s a lovely venue in an old Berlin church called Metropol. It’s pretty amazing.

Livingston interviewed by Jordan EdwardsHow much does a song’s viral potential play into what you release as a single?
Absolutely zero. Viral doesn’t matter to me. It’s cool when it happens. But songs have lives of their own, and the journey is unpredictable.

A lot of people probably listen to you after a breakup. How do you feel about that?
I’m glad the music can reach them during a difficult time. Music did that for me.

What’s something people get wrong about North Texas?
There’s so much culture. Denton is full of people from all over the world with so many different dreams.

You can go to any restaurant for dinner. Where are you going?
Sushi Tama in Los Angeles. I had a piece of sushi there that nearly made me cry one time.
