Did Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter Become Friends?
For the longest time, it seemed there’d never be any hope for Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter to be friends. That’s thanks to all the scandalous drama they went through in 2019 leaking into 2020. How could any of us forget? It was so chaotic and terrible!
Buuuuuhhtttt…. it looks like things might possibly be turning around for the talented Gen Z starlets. Is it possible that Olivia and Sabrina are on the road to friendship? After releasing diss tracks against each other for the world to stream, things are shifting. Here’s what you should know:
Sabrina and Olivia Were Spotted Hugging at the 2025 Grammys
The 2025 Grammys was filled with a slew of outrageous moments from The Weeknd’s questionably demonic performance to Bianca Censori’s nearly nude dress she “wore” on the red carpet. It’s also pretty shocking that both Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish walked away without any Grammy wins at the end of the night despite their highly impressive albums.
But one of the most shocking moments of all went down between Sabrina and Olivia. The two beauties were spotted hugging and chatting, which none of their fans likely saw coming. Olivia went out of her way to stop by Sabrina‘s table for a chat! No one knows exactly what they talked about, but the energy between them seemed pretty light and positive.
Details About Olivia and Sabrina’s Feud
The reason Olivia and Sabrina haven’t been on the friendliest terms until recently revolves around their love triangle with Joshua Bassett. Olivia released the song “Driver’s License” in response to the heartbreak because she felt like Sabrina swooped in and stole Joshua from her while Olivia was still completely in love with him.
The scathing lyrics say, “You’re probably with that blonde girl who always made me doubt. She’s so much older than me. She’s everything I’m insecure about.” For context on their ages, Olivia was 17 when she wrote the song, and Sabrina was 20. (They’re now 21 and 25 years old.)
To defend herself from all the backlash she was getting, Sabrina clapped back with a few songs of her own – “Skin” and “Because I Liked a Boy.”
In the latter, Sabrina sings, “Now I’m a homewrecker, I’m a slut. I got death threats filling up semi-trucks. Tell me who I am. Guess I don’t have a choice… All because I liked a boy.”
Based on these heavy-hitting lyrics from both Sabrina and Olivia, it never seemed like they’d ever be on friendly terms again. At the time, their loyal fan bases split apart, taking sides across social media platforms. They’ve now completely shocked the world with their sweet interplay during the 2025 Grammys.
Will Sabrina and Olivia Collaborate on a Song?
As of now, there’s been no word about an official collaboration between Sabrina and Olivia for new music. But, the idea of these starlets hitting the studio together to create pop music magic is a fabulous idea in the eyes of fans on both sides.
One Reddit thread was launched recently to discuss the notion. The Redditor wrote, “If Olivia and Sabrina collaborated, it would break the Internet overnight. Just saying.”
Another fan responded by saying, “I want this collaboration so badly. We need it!”
Others chimed in saying they don’t realistically believe a collaboration could ever happen. Of course, now that Sabrina and Olivia were spotted buddying up at the 2025 Grammys, the idea of them hitting the studio together no longer seems that far-fetched.
What would a collaboration between Olivia and Sabrina even sound like, though? To date, Olivia’s biggest songs are “Driver’s License,” “Déjà Vu,” and “Traitor.” Sabrina‘s biggest songs are “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Feather.” Any collaboration between these two girlies will (more than likely) sound like a fun combo of these lovable pop songs.
For now, Sabrina and Olivia simply making peace after their painful history is a positive update, like a white flag waving in the pop culture world.
