One of the biggest and most controversial comparisons fans are drawing? The one between Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter. Taylor dominates Grammy Award wins and currently holds 14 Grammys in total.

Is it possible Sabrina’s about to waltz in and steal Taylor’s thunder? According to Mirror, Taylor’s received six nominations this year, while Sabrina has eight. It’s entirely possible Sabrina could sweep Taylor in 2025 Grammy wins. 

Considering Taylor played an instrumental role in launching Sabrina’s career, this is intriguing. And Taylor invited Sabrina to perform as part of her legendary Eras Tour. Is it possible Sabrina will completely outshine Taylor this time around?

Who Will Take Home More Grammys: Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter? 

The six Grammys Taylor is up for are Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video. Most of the noms are for her song “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, from her album The Tortured Poets Department. She also earned a nod for her duet with Gracie Abrams called “Us.”

Sabrina has a chance at winning Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Remixed Recording, and Best Engineered Non-Classical Album. Her track ‘Espresso’ from the Short n’ Sweet album is making a huge impact. 

Again, fans won’t know for sure who will take home all these awards until February 2. Other names that have been thrown into the ring include Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Charli XCX, and Shaboozey. That being said, it’s possible Taylor and Sabrina could both lose out on some of their nominations as they’re up against a boatload of super-talented musicians.

How Might Sabrina’s Winning Sweep Affect Her Friendship With Taylor?

Taylor and Sabrina’s friendship has been in the spotlight for more than a year now. Fans speculate that Taylor’s fallout with Olivia Rodrigo may have influenced her decision to pursue such a public friendship with Sabrina.

As a reminder, Taylor and Olivia also had tension and a bit of a falling out after Taylor’s team pushed for lyrical credits on Olivia‘s song “Déjà Vu,” claiming it sounded too similar to Taylor’s “Cruel Summer”. Ever since then, things have been pretty awkward between Olivia and Taylor. And as another reminder, Sabrina and Olivia haven’t been cool since their 2019 love triangle debacle with Joshua Bassett. 

Is that the reason Taylor decided to amplify Sabrina’s career so aggressively in 2024? Well, for now, that’s all up for speculation. What we do know is that Taylor and Sabrina‘s friendship is pure pop culture gold these days. 

Sabrina built a larger and more loyal fan base by opening for the Eras Tour night after night. Occasionally, she even joined Taylor on stage for duets like the New Orleans mashup of “Espresso,” “Is It Over Now?,” and “Please Please Please”. But if Sabrina ends up nabbing more Grammy wins at the 2025 award ceremony, could their friendship be at risk?

We won’t know how the 2025 Grammys will impact Taylor and Sabrina’s friendship until it airs. Still, their friendship has been fascinating to keep up with since they first publicly connected. In a post from October 29, 2024, Taylor gave Sabrina a massive shout-out.

She wrote, “One of the things I’ll always remember from this weekend was getting to surprise the crowd with a performance by the princess of our dreams, Sabrina Carpenter.” 

During the NOLA performance, fans were undeniably delighted to see Taylor and Sabrina hit the stage together.

Sabrina spoke highly of Taylor during an appearance on CBS News Sunday Morning that same month saying, “[Taylor’s] so composed, she’s graceful, she’s gracious… she’s very supportive of me and knows who I am as a person and is very supportive of that, so I’m grateful for that.”

The mutual admiration and respect Taylor and Sabrina have is evident time and time again. Another huge thing they bond over is knowing their romantic relationships are constantly under scrutiny. 

If you don’t know that Taylor’s been dating Kansas Kansas City Chiefs football star Travis Kelce, you need to catch up. Since going public with their love story in September 2023, she’s faced an outpouring of judgment and criticism from fans. Sabrina can totally relate. 

Sadly, the “Please Please Please” songstress recently called it quits on her relationship with Barry Keoghan. But before that, haters constantly flooded her comment section with aggressive comments and opinions. 

Since Sabrina and Taylor are both beyond famous, getting judged for who they date certainly comes with the territory. However, that doesn’t make it any easier! More than likely, their close connection comes from being able to relate to something so emotionally taxing.
