2018 is a lot of things.
Over the 60 year tradition of the Grammy Awards, the annual show has been reflective of our culture, of the current events, of the political climate, and this year’s show was no exception. From the moment the Grammys opened with Kendrick Lamar’s satirical performance I knew it was going to be a night to remember. The evening hosted by James Corden I knew that we were going to be well-entertained by one of the finest comedians of our time. Check out Popdust‘s favorite memorable moments.
Kendrick Lamar’s satire
A breathtaking, brutally honest, and important opening to the night. Kendrick Lamar performed XXX and DNA alongside The Edge and Bono. His performance which started with faceless military men was briefly intersected with Dave Chapelle delivering the following, “I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening than watching a black man be honest in America is being an honest black man in America.” The performance concluded with each of the faceless men being shot and Kendrick standing alone among them. Kendrick had eight nominations.
