The Queen has passed.

On the morning of September 8th, 2022, Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen of England’s doctors were concerned for Her Majesty’s health. This was a departure from general reassurances they’ve been giving the public regarding her Covid status and other health issues over the past year.

The Queen died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she was joined earlier in the day by all of her children.

Don’t Be Surprised by England’s Racism

Racism in England got so bad that even Boris and Buckingham had to speak out...

Unsurprisingly, football did not "come home." Also unsurprisingly, Black British footballers were met with a barrage of racism as a result.

Over the past few weeks, England's success in the Euro Cup tournament was praised for bringing the nation together. As the team made history and made it to the finals on July 11th, the rallying cry of "it's coming home" injected the country's spirits with an intoxicating cocktail of hubris and hopefulness.

World Leaders Beyoncé and Meghan Markle Broker for World Peace

Beyoncé and Meghan Markle finally met on the red carpet of The Lion King UK, and we have the video evidence.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan meet Beyonce at UK 'Lion King' premiere | GMA

At long last, the US and the UK have finally overcome their bloody 243-year-old rivalry, thanks to the brief but powerful embrace of two of their most powerful leaders: Meghan Markle and Beyoncé.

The historic moment happened at the premier of The Lion King UK. Luckily, some observers caught the whole exchange on video., so we now have evidence that at long last, England and the USA are officially joining forces.

Apparently, Beyoncé began the exchange with an expression of love, causing the Internet's collective heart to swell when she called Meghan "my princess."

From there on out, the main topic of discussion was their kids. Beyoncé said that Meghan's baby "is so beautiful," and Prince Harry added that Archie had just started lifting his head up. He also informed Beyoncé, "You've been very busy." Jay-Z also jumped in with some helpful parenting advice for the royals, saying, "The best advice I can give you, always find time for yourself."

In case anyone's forgotten, these two couples consist of some of the world's most influential people. Jay-Z is the first billionaire rapper and Beyoncé's legacy speaks for itself. Meghan Markle, for her part, is the first mixed-race member of the Royal Family; and Prince Harry is sixth in line for the throne of England. Each of these people has become a powerful symbol—of pride, of culture, of success, and now, of diplomacy. They're of the sort that requires no explanation or introduction, and to see them humbled in each others' presences is to catch a glimpse into an echelon of power, wealth, and fame that most of us could never begin to comprehend. Like suns, their light powers our universe and our humble lives merely orbit theirs, and their union was a brief and potent supernova the witness was blessed to have captured.

While it's unclear when they'll meet again, we can all content ourselves by imagining a world where the USA and the UK are actually ruled by Beyoncé and Meghan Markle. Until then, we can just keep basking in the light of the sacred knowledge that the real queens of America and Britain love each other just as much as we love them.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Unveil Their New Baby's Name

Their baby pictures maintain the myth of a beautiful future for humanity.

Harry and Meghan - The List

via youtube.com

What is the purpose of the Royal Family? To maintain an archaic ideal of composure and elegance? To advertise a high-class positionality unattainable to most of their subjects? To give hope to the tired masses?

These are questions for another time. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released brand new baby pictures—and moments ago, they announced their baby's name.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is the latest addition to the royal family. Archie is an English name that means "genuine and bold," and Harrison means "son of Harry."

His parents unveiled his face for the first time this morning at Windsor Castle, standing in St. George's Hall. Meghan looked effortlessly modern in a white cropped trench coat by British designer Grace Wales Bonner, 4-inch Manolo Blahnik pumps, and a $750 18-karat gold necklace by Jennifer Meyer. Baby Archie was swaddled in a creamy white blanket made by GH Hurt & Son Ltd and a grey knit cap.

Harry looked undeniably dapper in a light grey suit, though no one knows or cares who designed it. The royals looked every inch the part of glowing signifiers of a promising future (that in reality is rapidly disintegrating) as they held their son aloft for the cameras.

Addressing a small group of journalists, Meghan called the experience of motherhood "magic," adding that "I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy." Of the baby's brand-new personality, she said, "He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm...he's just been the dream."

In response to that statement, Prince Harry added, "I don't know where he gets that from." He seemed to be joking—but is that statement a hint at intermarital strife? Could there be trouble in paradise?

It seems like, at least for now, Harry is more concerned with being a dad than anything else. "Parenting is amazing," he added. "But we're just so thrilled to have our own bundle of joy and to spend precious time with him as he slowly, slowly starts to grow up."

He also had some respectful insights about the toils that women go through as mothers. "Mother and baby are doing incredibly well," he told the press during his first appearance since becoming a dad on Monday. "It's been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly imagine. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension but we're both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the lovely support."

Finally, he celebrated the ephemerality of childhood, saying, "His looks are changing every single day. He's already got a bit of facial hair!"

Their child was born at 5:26 a.m. on Monday morning, weighing 7 pounds and 3 ounces. Since then Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, has been by the couple's side, and the family unveiled their duke in training to his very famous grandmother just after taking his first press photos.

Miss Bala

Miss Bala Trailer #1 (2019) | Movieclips Trailerswww.youtube.com

Gina Rodriguez's parents died, but that won't stop her from vacationing in Mexico with her best friend. It's just two gals livin' it up south of the border, when oh no, here come the cartels to kidnap them. Now sweet Gina needs to help the cartel if she wants to save her friend, but what will she do when the bad guy turns out to be hot? It kind of looks like Twilight except the sexy guy is a drug dealer instead of ancient vampire. Makes sense, considering it's directed by Catherine Hardwicke who also directed―you guessed it!―Twilight. Wait for the reviews.

LIMITED RELEASE:

Arctic

ARCTIC | Official Trailerwww.youtube.com

The ultimate survival match, Man v Nature. Mads Mikkelson stars as a plane crash survivor stranded in the arctic with a young woman who can't move on her own. Now if he wants to survive, he needs to trek through the wilderness, dragging the woman on a sled, fighting snowstorms and polar bears. The cinematography looks nice, but the movie seems harrowing. If you're into survival fare, this is right up your alley.

The Wild Pear Tree

Nominated for a Palme d'Or at Cannes, this Turkish film is about a young man who returns home after college while trying to save money to publish his first novel. There, he clashes with his gambling-addicted father and the various people and culture that shaped his youth. Even in the trailer, the imagery seems immediately profound. Reviews are also glowing, so if you're out to see a movie that will make you think and potentially analyze your own ambitions, this seems like a great choice.

They Shall Not Grow Old

They Shall Not Grow Old – New Trailer – In Theaters February 1www.youtube.com

Peter Jackson has created one of the most impressive documentaries ever made. They Shall Not Grow Old offers an up-close look at WW1 through the lens of first-person accounts and footage gathered from the BBC and Imperial War Museum, all restored with unbelievable clarity. The resulting product looks like it was shot in a Hollywood studio, and makes you feel closer to the Great War and the young men who died there than you might have believed possible.

NETFLIX:

Velvet Buzzsaw

Velvet Buzzsaw | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflixwww.youtube.com

Velvet Buzzsaw is a horror movie about the high art world from the writer/director behind Nightcrawler. It also stars Jake Gyllenhaal. If that's not enough to get you excited then, much like high art, you probably just don't get it. But as an added bonus, it's on Netflix so you don't even need to leave your house to see what's sure to be the most talked about movie release of the weekend. It also looks like a lot of fun.
