Aughts One Hit Wonders

#27 Paris Hilton, “Stars Are Blind” (2006)

What It Was: The musical vanity project with an island feel, from the Hilton Hotel heiress turned model, socialite, reality TV personality, celebrity girlfriend and sex tape star.

What Happened Next: The self-titled album most of us wanted to mock actually did pretty well, peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. From there Hilton continued to be a staple of red carpet coverage and supermarket tabloids, particularly during her dramatic 45-day jail sentence in 2007.

Where Are They Now?: Around? While Hilton’s ubiquity has lessened considerably following her It Girl days of the early aughts. She’s made strides to reach new audiences by embarking on a DJ career, with help from her (former?) “good friend,” Afrojack. Most recently, Paris has been forced to do a bit of damage control, following her public comments that “most [gay people] probably have AIDS.”
