The Popdust Files: fall out boy

Fall Out Boy‘s new album American Beauty/American Psycho doesn’t hit U.S. shelves until January 20, but according to early predictions it’s already headed straight for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200.

According to Hits Double Daily, pre-orders alone should finish at about 100,000 copies, which will give AB/AP an opening week of about 175-200k on the HDD Building Album Sales Chart.

“Initial reactions to Fall Out Boy’s new album have been phenomenal,” says Island President David Massey. “Given the platinum success of the album’s first hit single, ‘Centuries,’ with nearly 30 million YouTube views to date, back-to-back #1 songs on iTunes and extraordinary preorders, we are off to a very exciting start with American Beauty/American Psycho. We fully expect to be working this album throughout the year with multiple hit singles.”

If/when AB/AP tops the Billboard 200, it’ll be the band’s third chart-topping album. They first hit No. 1 back in 2007 with Infinity On High, and then staged a major comeback in 2013 with Save Rock and Roll.
