Bunnies and snakes and peacock feathers, oh my! For Maroon 5‘s new single release “Animals,” the pop band enlists the help of a few furry (and scaly) critters in the official lyric video. The song, already possessing an innate sensuality, is heightened with the clip, which features bunnies and snakes getting intimate on a bed of silk sheets and gold-dazzling bling.
“Baby I’m preying on you tonight. Hunt you down, eat you alive just like animals. Baby you think you that can hide,” Adam Levine, who returns to The Voice panel for the seventh installment in late Sept., sings on the provocative chorus. The track was co-written by Levine, Benjamin Levin and Shellback.
“Animals” follows their Hot 100 hit “Maps,” the lead-in to their forthcoming fifth studio LP, titled simply V (out Sept. 2). The song was also recently featured on a 2015 Kia Soul EV commercial, starring hamsters concocting a new organism in the laboratory.

This Sunday (Aug. 24), Maroon 5 hits the stage at the 2014 MTV VMAs, presumably with their current single “Maps.” The show goes live from The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. at 9/8c on MTV. Tune in to see your favorites win! They join quite the lineup: Beyonce, Usher, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora.
Here at Popdust, we’ve got our hands on an exclusive ZinePak booklet teaser, ripped from a 64-page magazine included within the packet which drops the same day as the album. Look for that to hit Tues. (Aug. 26), and don’t fret, it’ll be well worth the wait.
