Last year Rihanna skipped her usual one-album-a-year release schedule to focus on touring without the added pressure of recording new music in her downtime. Now it looks like she’s planning to make up for lost time, with plans to release TWO new albums in 2014 — and one of them is a concept album for an upcoming Dreamworks animated movie.
Dreamworks announced the interesting news on Tuesday, revealing that Riri will create a concept album based around their upcoming animated film, Home. She’ll also perform new songs in the film, which she stars in alongside Steve Martin and fellow pop diva Jennifer Lopez.
We’re sure that “concept album” is just a fancier way of saying “soundtrack,” but we’ll find out for sure when the movie hits theaters in November.
On top of the Home project, Rihanna’s also preparing to drop another album, which we can only assume will be her eighth studio effort. She’s hinted at the disc in recent interviews and has been spotted in the studio with the likes of Darkchild and “Love The Way You Lie” producer Alex Da Kid, and last December various tabloids reported about her two-album comeback plans, quoting a source as saying that Riri wants “big hits” from both.
Bring it on!
