The Popdust Files: 2pm, K-pop

We were really, really, really disappointed with 2PM’s new single, “Come Back When You Hear This Song,” but we’ve got some good news: 2PM has another new single, and it’s so amazing that it completely makes up for the last one.

Titled “A.D.T.O.Y.” (short for ‘All Day I Think of You’) and produced once again by J.Y. Park, the new song manages to deliver the signature 2PM sound, while also showing the mature evolution that the band promised with the release of their latest album, Grown.

Like SHINee’s “Sherlock” and Girls’ Generation’s “I Got a Boy,” it’s a genre melting pot, but ”A.D.T.O.Y.” stays strictly in the world of urban music. There’s hip-hop, R&B, old school soul, dubstep, and even trap music. It constantly shifts between sounding like a throwback record and something shockingly contemporary, making it one of the most forward-thinking songs to come out of JYP Entertainment in a long time. The best part lies somewhere just past the middle, when member Junho suddenly switches up his vocal delivery and sings the swoon-worthy chorus in falsetto.

Usher would absolutely kill to get his hands on this.
