Just going by the video for “Fuckin’ Problems,” a simple blank-background affair, A$AP Rocky would not seem to be the kind of artist with Lady-Gaga-level cinematic ambitions. But all that’s changed with the release of the video for “Long Live A$AP,” the title track off A$AP’s upcoming major-label debut, which is one of the self-consciously arty rap videos we’ve seen in quite a while. We’re not sure exactly how to explain it, so here are some screen caps and maybe you’ll be able to decode it for us. Is that a thumb?
Forget Kendrick Lamar, maybe A$AP is the one who needs to be collaborating with Gaga in the future.
