The Popdust Files: 2 Chainz, Diplo, PSY, upcoming collaborations

“The mayan calendar predicted this.” Not really–you know the Mayans just ran out of room for their calendar, right, Diplo?—but certainly not many others would have predicted this unholy trinity assembling. Diplo, super-produer behind such recent pop future-classics as Usher’s “Climax” and Chris Brown’s “Look At Me Now,” tweeted yesterday that he had just gotten out of the studio after working with a couple of somewhat unlikely collaborators:

Well. If you wanted to create the ultimate representative sample of what pop music sounded like in the year 2012—for posterity in case the whole Mayan apocalypse thing turned out to be legit for some reason—this would be a pretty good supergroup to assemble to create it. All it needs is Carly Rae Jepsen to sing the hook.
