The Popdust Files: ed sheeran, red, taylor swift, upcoming tours

Taylor Swift capped her week-long parade of pretty dresses and smudge-free red lipstick with a “BIG” announcement on ABC Friday night. Was Meredith the cat expecting kittens?! News of upcoming live shows seemed more likely, which would be the first since her Speak Now world tour in 2011. “I’m beyond exited to tell you here tonight for the first time that, yes, I’m coming back on tour next year,” Taylor tells the camera in a pre-recorded segment, rattling off a few impressive stats about her upcoming swing (58 shows in 45 cities across the United States and Canada). “And I can’t wait to play these new songs for all of you.” Joining Taylor will be her “Everything Has Changed” collaborator and friend, Ed Sheeran, who is already throwing out enthusiastic punctuation about this recent development.

A slot on Taylor’s tour will help to bump Sheeran’s already rising starpower here in the States, and is yet another piece of evidence that these two just love making music together.

The tour begins on March 13—not a coincidence—in Omaha, Nebraska, and wraps in September in Taylor’s adopted hometown of Nashville, Tenn. Of course there’s always the possibility things will go a little longer. You’ll have some time to commit Red to memory as tickets for next year’s tour go on sale on November 16.  Check out the full list of dates and venues below.
