In the midst of campaigning in Ohio this morning, Barack Obama visited Cleveland’s Z107.9 and gave listeners the answer to the question we’ve all been dying to ask: What is it like being friends with Jay-Z and Beyonce?

No surprise here—O said being friends with the most popular couple in the world was pretty great:

I’ve gotten to know these guys over the first several years. They’re good people. Beyonce could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they’re good friends. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends.

We see you Barack, trying to play that friendship off like it’s nothing, but inside we know you’re just as pumped about it as we are.

Barack also told the station how he took the time to teach his buddy a lesson about gender equality. The personal is still political!

I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with Blue Ivy] and not leaving it all with Beyonce and the mother-in-law.

Rock on, B. (The president, not the diva.)

If you’re wondering, Obama also stanned for Jay’s early material, particularly “My First Song,” which he said r”eminds you that you always have to stay hungry.”

What a fun day for us all, including Jay-Z: You know you’ve reached a high level of fame when the President of the United States is bragging about being friends with you.
