The Popdust Files: cruel summer, fashion, kanye west, twitter

Brace yourselves for a shocking announcement from Kanye West today:

BE BACK SOON

Be back from where? Be back from where?? Kanye certainly hasn’t been “away” by any stretch of the imagination. Heck, the guy dropped an album just two weeks ago. It’s time for another installment of Kanyeology, which is basically the same thing as Kremlinology except the odds of us all getting nuked if we guess incorrectly are much lower. Our thoughts below:

Fashion. Kanye famously did not show at Paris Fashion Week after his introductory offerings went unloved. Will he dust himself off and get back in the game again?

Press. Kanye does not do press. Like, absolutely zero. (Remember the G.O.O.D. Music JV team floundering through the Cruel Summer promotional cycle? Even then Kanye did not swoop out of the Batcave to save the day.) Is he trying to tell us he’s about to start putting himself in the public eye some more, maybe starting by granting an interview to his favorite new pop music blog?

Twitter. Given that the announcement was made on Twitter, it’s reasonable to assume the West was referring to his own Twitter account. In that case, could “BE BACK SOON” actually have been a good-bye? A quick peek at Kanye’s Twitter would seem to confirm that:

In case you can’t tell, that’s all West’s tweet and almost all of his follows deleted. (Only Kim Kardashian remains.)

So, it looks like we should pour one out for Kanye West’s Twitter feed. Goodbye old friend, you had a good run.
