The Popdust Files: Danielle Peazer, gossip, liam payne, one direction

The only thing that could tear us away from these riveting tales of romantic romps with One Direction is news that certain stories now have an actual chance at coming true: Nineteen-year-old Liam Payne has split with 21-year-old dancer Danielle Peazer, his girlfriend of two years. The potential breakup was first reported last week, but remained unconfirmed by Liam or Danielle until the former’s interview with U.K paper The Sun hit the streets on Wednesday. “Danielle is great. I really hope we can still be friends,” he explained in the daily’s “exclusive” look at one-fifth of the global phenomenon. While Directioners have been divided in their reactions, it seems like the negative attention Danielle received—ahem, death threats on Twitter—as well as the obligations that come with being a successful pop star may have led to their split. “I bought her a car for her birthday, but she really isn’t that fussed by money or fame,” Liam explained, veering off on a tangent about how she wouldn’t let him pay for her own hair color. It might also be worth noting that Liam’s been replying to an awful lot of “babes” on Twitter recently. Pair that with his desire to sneak anonymous girls out for a celebration that sounds a lot like what our grandparents would call a one-night stand, and perhaps this was the kind of behavior Danielle was frustrated with?
 
 

Liam also revealed to The Sun that he went out for a post-breakup drink with Leona Lewis. Did he have the same reaction as Taylor Swift did in that cafe? (Was it a Wednesday?!) The boys have been friendly with Lewis for some time, as they share a management company with the 27-year-old winner of X Factor season three. Despite no indication that they’re anything more than drinking partners, Directions now have a new handle to direct their Twitter jealousy and aggression towards—if they’re looking for one.
