The Popdust Files: believe, carly rae jepsen, justin bieber, PSY, selena gomez

After months of planning and promoting, Justin Bieber’s Believe tour kicks off on Saturday night in Glendale, Arizona. His second headlining tour and first since 2011, The Bieb will hit 50 cities on his swing through North America, running beyond the holidays and well into 2013. He and his crew have spent much of the summer hyping this live show up on Twitter—even forgoing the MTV Video Music Awards to prepare—and have promised fans a night they’ll never forget. Because we can’t wait to experience the magic first hand, here’s a look at things we hope will happen along the way.
 
1. A LOT OF DANCING

We’ve seen his explosive rehearsal footage, and got a handle on the MJ-borrowing routines featured in the “As Long As You Love Me” video. Time to find out what came of those open auditions for dancers to join him on tour. Plus, it’s important to reaffirm his status as a performer, now that One Direction is adding their own dance moves to the mix.
 
2. “THOUGHT OF YOU”

The Diplo-produced track is one of our favorites off Believe, but we’ve yet to see The Bieb bust it out in a live performance. We’re hoping for a fast-moving choreography and high energy, but are also intrigued to see how he could deconstruct this one #withDanKanter.
 
3. FUTURISTIC SETS AND OTHER FUN SPECIAL EFFECTS

As much as we want to hear stellar live vocals and impressive dance moves, we wouldn’t mind a little pyrotechnics display. Tickets for the show weren’t cheap!
 
4. A CARLY RAE JEPSEN DUET

Our Girl is opening for Bieber, which gives them they ability to debut their Kiss collaboration, “Beautiful,” live. Then again, Bieber does a great version of “Call Me Maybe,” in case CRJ has grown tired of the song.
 
5. AN APPEARANCE BY SELENA GOMEZ

Whether that means onstage or in the wings, Selena told Ellen DeGeneres that she was going to “try” to join him on the road, likely taking in a few dates and leaving the post-show NBA2K13 battles to The Bieb and his boys.
 
6. THE BIEB DOING “GANGNAM STYLE”

The Wanted has already invited Psy onstage, leaving the Bieb as the next Scooter Braun artist to welcome his moves with open arms. He’s all about expanding his brand and diversifying his style.
 
7. A TRIBUTE TO AVALANNA

Following the passing of six-year-old Avalanna Routh earlier this week, Bieber hasn’t been shy about sharing his feelings for his superfan. We could see him dedicating a portion of his set to “Mrs. Bieber,” as well as use the opportunity to promote awareness for AT/RT, the rare form of cancer affecting the central nervous system, with which Avalanna was diagnosed at nine months.
 
8. A DRAKE GUEST SPOT IN TORONTO

We’re confident Beliebers would welcome Drake any time and anywhere, but there’s typically something up Bieber’s sleeves whenever he heads back home. The Bieb rolls into his surrogate hometown on December 1; we’re not sure what Drizzy will be up to then—perhaps working on that 26 million?—but “Right Here,” right here—er, there—in Canada? It’s too perfect not to come true.
