As we approach the anniversary of Whitney Houston’s tragic death, the Grammys have devised another way for the music industry to pay tribute to the singer. “We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston,” a television special celebrating Houston’s legendary career, will air on November 16  at 10 p.m. EST on CBS, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday. The prime-time event will feature performances by Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Usher, as well as previously unseen interview and performance footage by Houston.

Hudson was given the immediate task of honoring the late singer in February, performing ”I Will Always Love You” at this year’s Grammy Awards just 24 hours after news of Houston’s death broke. She also featured prominently in Houston’s last appearance at the award show, when the elder songstress presented her with her first-ever golden gramophone in 2009.

The event plans to celebrate Houston’s Grammy history, as well as her life and legacy, through vintage performances. In August, the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles unveiled its special exhibit, “Whitney! Celebrating the Musical Legacy of Whitney Houston,” which features familiar stage costumes from the singer’s career as well as personal photographs and pieces of fan memorabilia, in August. The exhibit runs through February 2013. Tickets to the upcoming television special—taping on October 11—are currently available for purchase via Ticketmaster.
