The Popdust Files: lmfao, party rock anthem, Red Foo, Sky Blu

Party Rock is officially in the ground tonight. After spandex-loving LMFAO blew up with last year’s “Party Rock Anthem” and banana hammock-heavy “Sexy And I Know It,” members RedFoo and Sky Blu have announced they have no plans to record together in the immediate future. Break-up? Hiatus? “Break”? We should have known something was up when Red Foo was basically sleeping at Arthur Ashe Stadium during the U.S. Open.

“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years. And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time,” RedFoo told Australia’s news.com.au. The elder statesmen of the duo explained he and Sky Blu have simply moved in “different directions,” namely the USTA tour for him, and various club appearances in the Caribbean, for his nephew. More than just a tennis enthusiast, RedFoo has apparently been coaching junior player Ayaka Okuno in Las Vegas, and will host the Party Rock Open in Sin City this weekend.

Fortunately the familial bonds—and the Gordy name—they share make it difficult for the two to avoid each other come holidays or birthdays. ”I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” Red Foo continued. Since he’s keeping things classy and showing no sign of a feud, does that mean we have to keep our “shots, shots, shots, shots, shots, shots, fired” line to ourselves? “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.” Fact!
