As Wonder Girls prepare to embark on a K-Pop takeover with the release of their debut English-language album here in the United States, the former reality queens and newly minted Nickelodeon stars hosted a meet and greet for American media in New York City. As a part of our nation’s welcome wagon, we quizzed the six-time Pop-Off champions on a few of their favorites from the Red, White and Blue, as well as searched to find out what strange slang words they’ve picked up on the road and how good their versions of Psy‘s “Gangnam Style” are. Read it all below—the answers might surprise you.
POPDUST: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE AMERICAN FOOD?
All: Shake Shack, In and Out, Chick-fil-A.
Yubin: And cheesecakes.
HOW MANY STATES ARE THERE IN THE U.S.
WHO’S YOUR FAVORITE AMERICAN ACTOR?
Sohee: Well, we like Andrew Garfield. [Ed. note: He's British, but can do a very believable American accent.]
Lim: And Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE JACKSON, OTHER THAN MICHAEL?
WHAT ABOUT AMERICAN TELEVISION SHOWS?
Lim: Pretty Little Liars. I’m obsessed.
Sohee: I’m only on Season 2.
Popdust: So you don’t know who A is?
Yenny: You know who A is?!
Popdust: Yes, spoiler alert!
WHAT ABOUT REALITY TELEVISION?
Sun: Recently, we found out about the Jonas Brothers…
Popdust: Married to Jonas?
Yubin: [Danielle]‘s so nice.
Lim: They’re such a cute couple!
Yenny: And The Hills.
Lim: I love Lauren Conrad.
WHAT’S THE WEIRDEST THING ABOUT AMERICA?
Sun: The tipping culture.
All: We don’t tip!
Yenny: It’s always included.
Popdust: So you have to do the math?
Yubin: 20 percent!
HAVE YOU LEARNED ANY AMERICAN PHRASES?
All: For Shizzle!
ANY BAD WORDS?
Lim: Yes, but we can’t say it. It starts with a “D.”
Lim: I’ll tell you later.
WHAT’S THE MOST KOREAN THING ABOUT YOU?
Sun: We eat specific spicy Korean foods, so when we go abroad, sometimes it’s really hard to find Korean restaurants. We are dying to have some spicy Korean food.
Lim: We crave spicy food when we go to other countries.
Sohee: We bring Gochujang [with us].
WHAT’S THE STRANGEST RUMOR YOU’VE HEARD ABOUT YOURSELVES?
Yubin: Because we’re a girl group, [the public] wants us to have cat fights.
Lim: Yeah, [they say] that we don’t like each other, that we punch each other…
All: We just don’t care.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU DIE?
All: Heaven? Heaven.
WHO IS THE MOST BOY CRAZY IN THE GROUP?
All: One, two, three [point to Lim].
Lim: I just turned 20!
Popdust: Over the weekend, right? September 1?
Lim: Yes! I have the same horoscope as Beyoncé!
SO WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE BEYONCÉ SONG?
Yubin: “Single Ladies” [does the "Single Ladies" hand dance].
Yenny: What’s that song she sang at the UN?
Lim: “I Was Here!”
Sohee: Also, “Love on Top.”
