The Popdust Files: lady gaga

Yesterday morning, Lady Gaga tweeted the following to her 28 million followers:

And here it is. Gaga looks both regal and a teensy bit nuts on the cover, which features the singer in a fishtail Marc Jacobs gown, her hair framing her face like a lion’s mane.

This is the second time Gaga has appeared on Vogue‘s cover, and her look is a complete departure from last year’s sleek pink bob and sexy, cleavage-exposing Haider Ackermann jumpsuit. Inside, the singer goes nearly-nude in a big pink ostrich-and-marabou hat designed by Stephen Jones, the legendary British milliner and the man responsible for the similarly oversize, Dr. Seuss-esque toppers that came down the runway of Marc Jacobs’ last New York Fashion Week show.

In fact, Gaga is dressed exclusively in Marc Jacobs for the profile, and seems to have since developed a taste for his work. Today she posted a photo taken inside a Louis Vuitton store wearing a huge fuchsia fur coat, carrying her adorable teacup Maltipoo.

Despite the out-there hair and hats, Gaga looks relatively normal and pretty in the shots, which were taken by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by Vogue grand dame Grace Coddington. This is the magazine’s largest issue ever, and what better woman to grace its cover?
