The Popdust Files: cruel summer, kanye west, kim kardashian

Kanye West stepped behind the DJ booth once again, this time at PH-D at the The Dream Downtown in New York on Friday. Sources tell the New York Daily News  ‘Ye arrived with Leonardo DiCaprio—yes, Marty Scorsese’s Leo DiCap—around 1:30 a.m. and joined Maxwell and a group of fabulous “model” types at an exclusive table. A few minutes of polite chit-chat were all that was needed before West was allowed to leave his friends and get back to work, debuting tracks possibly featured on his upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album, Cruel Summer.

West reportedly treated those in attendance to previously unheard music, described as having “similar production style [to the one] he used on his wildly successful album with Jay-Z last summer.” It’s called Watch The Throne, and, yes, we’ll take it. Not to be outdone by the city’s other paper, the New York Post chimed in with some dramatic descriptions of the reactions from onlookers upon realizing Kanye West was most definitely in the building. “The room looked stunned. People were standing around with jaws literally dropped,” said the rag’s spies.

Unsurprisingly, the track from his 45 minute set that’s been getting the most buzz is one believed to draw heavily from his personal life. Tentatively titled “My Perfect Bitch,” the Daily News cites its use of “Carmina Burana,” not unlike Nas and Diddy’s “Hate Me Now,” as well as descriptions of a certain curvaceous female. Because complimentary adjectives praising a woman’s curves are solely reserved for Kim Kardashian, this unconfirmed creation must be referring to West’s reality star girlfriend.

Yeezy’s previous DJ set in London last December featured songs that would eventually become ‘Theraflu“—and later “Way Too Cold”—the coming out song about his longstanding feelings for, and ultimate relationship with, Kim Kardashian, of which we are smack dab in the middle of, cutesy tweets, water park photos, and all. If all is true, and “My Perfect Bitch” makes the cut for the September 12 release, take this as yet another sign that the Kimye relationship is for real—at least for now. They’ve already crossed the 72-day milestone, next up: weathering all the promotion associated with a major album release, and that potential reality spinoff of their own together. If those don’t go well, there’s always joining Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison on VH1′s Couples Therapy.

UPDATE: Yeezy says it’s true.
