American Idol alum Todrick Hall, known for his ability to charm Target managers into staging Beyoncé flashmobs and remaking Rihanna videos into Apple ads, has created another viral success with his version of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Instead of “Bonjour,” it’s “what’s good?”; instead of wrestling with the her “provincial” upbringing, Belle’s just another person living a “hood rat life,” hanging out at the hair salon where patrons and employees talk shop about Kimye and the newest programming schedule on BET. Watch closely as her chipper attitude and criticism of the name “Blue Ivy” begins to grate on her neighbors who clearly don’t have time to stop and smell the roses, including “Bed Intruder Song” extraordinaire, Antoine Dodson, and apartment fire survivor, Sweet Brown. We hope this means her bronchitis has gotten better? Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Despite its timing, Hall’s “Beauty and the Beat” is not to be confused with Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s Believe collaboration of the same name. But maybe this is an early pitch for the video concept?
