Drake’s Club Paradise Lives Up to the Hype With Cameos From The Weeknd and Dipset

Earlier this week Drake said he wanted to give fans a second chance at Summer Jam, in light of recent events, and Saturday night’s installment of the Club Paradise tour proved he has the a significant crew in his corner, and a potential career as a booking agent. Following yet another YMCMB headline-making fiasco, Drake managed to allude to his atypical Wednesday night in front of a crowd of 15,000 fans at Jones Beach. ”When I woke up this morning, I had to think about a lot of things,” he said as he took the stage. “But the only thing I gave a fuck about was that I was in New York City tonight.”
With Breezy’s tweets and injury Instagrams, as well as the claims that Drake could be arrested for his involvement, we’ve all been waiting to hear Aubrey’s response to the alleged scuffle. Time for some hypothetical situations drawn from real life! ”You were having a good night so far, you done had a couple drinks, you done met a couple thangs, and then the ni–a in the corner start looking at you funny and you feel a motherfuckin’ way about it,” he explained later on in the show, failing to drop key words like “Greenhouse” or “bottle,” but not doing much in the way of squashing the idea that he’s one to get rowdy when provoked. “And then somebody going to the bathroom bumps you with their elbow and you like, ‘What the fuck?’”
As the not-so-subtle references to Young Money’s offstage drama continues, we’re surprised Drake didn’t take a moment to call out Oklahoma City for failing to provide a courtside seat for his boss during the Western Conference Finals.
Whatever transpired at WiP early Thursday morning, Drake clearly has the advantage for the time being, having brought out everyone in his contact list within the New York Metro area. In addition to Club Paradise’s many openers—2 Chainz, Waka Flocka Flame, Meek Mill—Drake called up New Yorkers A$AP Rocky and Busta Rhymes during the show, deepening his roster of available entourage members and bottle deflectors in preparation for his next night out. Who you got, Chris Brown? And seriously, whose side are you on, JB?
Canada had yet another moment as The Weeknd joined Drizzy to perform Take Care collaboration, “Crew Love,” making up for those missed opportunities at Coachella, and the original Dipset members took the stage, making all of Jimmy Brooks’ Degrassi dreams come true. ”This is something that I gotta do for New York,” Drake said, before welcoming Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Cam’Ron to the stage. As exciting as it is to hear two of Toronto’s children perform together live, it’s hard for their musical creation to compete with the stupid happy grin and flapping wings Aubrey sports while Jones runs through “We Fly High.” Watch below.
