Thunder Up For the NBA Finals, “Call Me Maybe”-Style

Nothing pumps up a group of professional athletes like the sound of Our Girl Carly Rae Jepsen, so it’s not surprising to see an trio of Oklahoma City Thunder fans attempt to harness the power of OGCRJ for team motivation. The NBA team has a big couple of weeks coming up, with an imminent finals matchup against the high-powered Miami Heat, so to get them over the inspiration hump, Chris Castor uploaded a clip of two and his Thunder-loving buds performing “Call Him KD”—an ode to Kevin Durant, scoring champ and star OKC forward. It’s not quite as visceral as fellow Oklahomans The Flaming Lips’ “Thunder Up” tribute, and it sounds a little too much like they’re saying “Call Me Katie,” but it does have some cute moments—”Ibaka’s in your way” being a particularly nice one.
We’re rooting for you, Thunder. F that Miami noise.
