The Popdust Files: beyonce, movies, Pitbull, steven tyler

Beyoncé’s recent live show featured a lot of soothing voice-overs and video montages that preached the importance of life and love. When she talked, we (and the 5,000 or so other Revel guests) listened—seriously, there is no having of side conversations at a Bey show—and after four nights back on stage, it looks like film studios have begun to notice the power her voice has over an audience. According to The Wrap, Beyoncé will be voicing a character in the upcoming animated film, Epic, from FOX Animation and Blue Sky Studios. The film will be directed by Chris Wedge (Ice Age) and also boasts the voices of American Idol judge Steven Tyler and Pitbull.

While we love B’s Houston twang, we’ll definitely miss her crazy faces, but we remain open to checking this one out as long as Tyler’s animated self comes with braids, and Pitbull’s character sprinkles all of his dialogue with random declarations of “ha!” The eclectic musical trio joins the likes of Aziz Ansari (keep it in the family), Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Amanda Seyfried and Jason Sudeikis, with a 2013 release date. The 3D action-adventure-comedy (-romance-horror?) flick will be Bey’s first foray into the animated world, as she still has The Honorable Clint Eastwood’s A Star is Born on her post-baby schedule. While this weekend confirmed that she is indeed back to business, we’re guessing voice roles—and the typically light work schedule that comes with them—are attractive to the new mom who won’t need to leave Blue Ivy for too long to get the job done. Plus, this is one of the films that BIC will be able to check out at a younger age, compared to, say, Obsessed.
