Rihanna's "Battleship" Acting Impressed Someone, At Least

There have been five movies in The Fast and the Furious franchise, and apparently there’s now going to be a sixth. This has happened, and the world has just let it happen. Hooray!
Anyway. On to the news. The news is that evidently Rihanna will play the villain in the (sigh forever) sixth movie, which will be set in the U.K. And here’s a somewhat spurious tabloid quote with even more spurious reasoning to back it up!
Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship. Writers think she’ll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life. It’s a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles.
Got it. Her acting was impressive. Far more impressive, apparently, than the fact that she’s Rihanna and thus a marquee name. But that said, she is a little qualified! Sort of. Like so:
“Shut Up and Drive.” The Fast and the Furious franchise contains a lot of driving, and it’s got action scenes that presumably you’d want to shut up during.
“Hard.” If you’re playing a villain, you need a villain song. This isn’t technically a villain song, but it’s close enough.
“We Found Love.” Filmed in the U.K.; involved cars, sort of. Look, we’re not stretching any more than they are, OK?
