The Popdust Files: one direction, up all night, upcoming tours

Not wasting any time, One Direction wants to give you yet another chance to see them perform live. After their headlining gig at Madison Square Garden sold out in minutes last Friday, the band has announced additional tour dates set for June 2013. As in 14 months from now. Thinking about a trip to the beach not this summer, but the next? Tend to get a wicked case of hay fever every June or July? Better consult the One Direction tour schedule before booking flights or doctor’s appointments; you wouldn’t want to miss out on this entirely life-changing experience. ”You guys will be seeing us live across America in 2013 on a big arena tour, so woo hoo!” 1D’s Liam said while calling into Ryan Seacrest to make the official announcement on Thursday.

Despite the boys being all the way in Australia, deciding to up their live game is a way of capitalizing on the great momentum gained in the States following the release of Up All Night and recent Saturday Night Live performance. Still, scheduling dates more than a year in advance seems to be kind of a ballsy move, considering a group of cute and talented French boys could currently be learning choreography in utero. But the heart wants what the heart wants—and usually will get it, depending on how willing its parents are to buy tickets. Reactions like this have led arena bookers nationwide to believe in the band’s selling power, making them confident that said tickets won’t wind up on StubHub after an industry-wide boy band backlash six months from now.
