The Popdust Files: avicii, levels, madonna, upcoming tours

Proving he is indeed a must-see live act who can summon musical legends to his shows, Avicii is now preparing to launch his own upcoming tour. After appearing at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami this weekend, the 22-year-old Swedish wunderkind, responsible for getting that Etta James tune stuck in your head long before Flo Rida, will head to the Coachella Festival in April, before hitting the road for his first major tour. Beginning May 17 in Houston, the 19-city Avicii-LE7ELS tour runs through July 4, making stops in Miami, New Orleans and Montreal, with additional dates to come.

While summer swings are often lauded as carefree party atmospheres, both the increasing demand for his live sets and the increasingly large crowds for which he performs speaks to the massive popularity of electronic music right now. Guess the Grammys had a point? There’s also a little bit of history to be had with his upcoming live act, which will be the first time an electronic artist has headlined a North American arena tour. So if you’re still not on the EDM train, you won’t be able to avoid it for much longer. Check out Madonna’s gracious introduction to the artist also known as Tim Berg, as well as a full list of upcoming dates, below.
