The Popdust Files: adele, feuds, interviews, jessie j, one direction, the wanted

Before we delve too far into this: No, this is not an actual news story. But, of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t overreact to it and have fun with it just the same. Whenever you have two musical groups that are clearly at the forefront of their time and place in popular music, people are going to try to create imaginary rivalries and feuds between them—as true for the Beatles and Rolling Stones as it was for Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync. This is a lesson that will be well-heeded for One Direction and The Wanted—especially after an innocuous phone conversation 1Der Niall Horan had with MTV, in which he uttered the following quote about the recent UK “invasion” of US shores.

It’s pretty cool…Adele and us, and Jessie J and the Wanted. It’s all very good.

Woah, woah, woah, hold up. So, if we’re reading you correctly, Niall—and we’re absolutely 100% positive that we are, without a doubt—you’re saying that you guys are the Adele of this here boy band boom, and The Wanted are the…Jessie J? Ouch, babe. That’s like saying ”Yeah, this whole fast food thing is pretty cool…the Baconator and us, and Jessie J and the Arby’s Roast Beef.” If that’s not an invitation to all-out war, we can’t imagine what is. (Did we mention you guys might want to just not say anything about The Wanted ever? Seriously, just give ‘em the ol’ Rasheed Wallace “Both teams played hard.” Can’t-win situation otherwise.)
