Katy Perry flew to England over the weekend to perform “Part of Me” at the BBC’s Let’s Dance for Sport Relief finale on Saturday night, going against a band of bright green lasers and the notoriously harsh British press. The Daily Mail is more critical of the singer’s ensemble than anything else, neglecting to think about how hard it probably is to avoid burning one’s retina while wearing a floor-length couture gown. We know nationalism is big with you, especially with the Olympics coming up and all, but just because she’s no longer married to a Brit doesn’t mean you have to be so mean (cue Taylor Swift). Plus, from the look we got at the upcoming video, the track isn’t all about high fashion and flawless makeup. It’s a non-Russell Brand-focused breakup song, remember? Between the leggings and the jazzercise moves, this performance is easily replicable even for those who don’t have access to fancy lighting equipment.
