The Popdust St. Patrick’s Day Playlist

If your version of St. Patrick’s Day includes staying indoors and hiding from drunk people, consider our green-themed installment of the Popdust Weekend Playlist the perfect accompaniment. We’re honoring our Irish brethren with a selection of songs from the homeland that don’t all require binge drinking just to make it through. But if you’re of age and want to responsibly pour yourself a glass, go right ahead. We won’t judge.
1. “SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY” — U2
We could have written a playlist entirely made up of U2 songs, but then again we love to surprise. This is not a rebel song, mind you.
2. “I’M SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON” — DROPKICK MURPHYS
Whether this makes you want to watch The Departed or pound back a few pints of Guinness and do a culturally insensitive jig is up to you.
3. “C’EST LA VIE” — B*WITCHED
You thought we forgot about this song, or that strategically placed asterisk? How wrong you are.
4. “BREAKEVEN” — THE SCRIPT
The Script is the Irish version of Train when it comes to creating perfectly inoffensive songs that work well in the background of TV episodes and commercials. Allow this to soundtrack your bathroom breaks and refill trips.
5. “UP ALL NIGHT” — ONE DIRECTION
Niall Horan might be the group’s sole Irish member, but that’s no reason not to spotlight their most party-ready of tunes off their U.S. debut, Up All Night. People tend to celebrate March 17 with a few drinks, right? Plus, consider the lyrical shout-out payback for Katy Perry‘s big decision, which may have changed Niall’s life entirely.
