Aretha Franklin, the godmother of the late Whitney Houston and a lifelong inspiration for her, couldn’t attend Houston’s funeral ceremony yesterday because of ongoing health issues; however, she paid tribute at Radio City Music Hall in NYC, the last stop of a tour that, because of timing, had in part turned into an extended tribute to Houston. Said Houston of the departed singer:
“[Whitney was one of] the kindest and greatest singers that ever stood behind a mic… I will always remember her kindness, her grace, her smile, her dynamic performances. She’s moved on up just a little bit higher now, and we don’t wonder where she is.”
