This may or may not be the last time that Whitney Houston was filmed live, but given that it was taken within 48 hours of her death, it’s unavoidably fascinating regardless. Taken from Grammy rehearsals last Thursday, Whitney greets professional mentor Clive Davis, along with unofficial proteges Brandy and Monica, with her daughter Bobbi Kristina in tow. It’s far from revelatory—you don’t get any kind of insight into Whitney’s mental state or anything, and in fact she seems in decent spirits—but there’s definitely something compulsively watchable about it knowing that two days later, she’d be pulled out of a Beverly Hilton bathtub and announced to the world as dead.

Perhaps most interesting about it are the large, super-dark sunglasses worn by Whitney during the greeting, which obviously takes place indoors. We’ll probably never quite know exactly what was going on behind those sunglasses last week.
