This is the moment that the red-carpet hosts have deemed “this year’s egg,” which as red-carpet narration goes is a really big deal. Summary: Nicki Minaj arrived at the Grammys dressed in a red hood, with a bishop who everyone’s calling the Pope, leaving the world with only questions. We are the world, so we have some too:

1. What’s being referenced here? Little Red Riding Hood? The Handmaid’s Tale? A Spoon album (probably not, but it’d cause lots of music-geek freakoutery? Some kind of more abstract red = Catholic trouble imagery?

2. How many times has Lady Gaga kicked herself by now for not thinking of this first? (This isn’t an attempt to start a feud. Divas can coexist. But this could’ve been the best “Bloody Mary” promo that didn’t happen, no?)

3. Was this Madonna’s idea? This is also not an attempt to start a feud. But hanging around with someone who’s made a career out of messing with Catholic imagery (being actually named Madonna helps there) means it might’ve been in part Madonna’s idea.

4. Has someone contacted the Vatican about this yet? Is this anything we should confess after having watched?
