The Popdust Files: 60 minutes, adele
Adele speaks! Specifically, she went on CBS’s 60 Minutes before the Grammys to remind Anderson Cooper and the world why she wasn’t speaking before. We’re talking gruesome reminders: “[losing her voice] was like someone put a curtain over my throat,” or perhaps “like something popped in my throat.”
That sounds pretty f—ing serious, in other words–and those might be Adele’s words, too. See, Adele is famous for liking to swear. Yes, seemingly any musician who swears will eventually get “she has a filthy mouth!” headlines for having a mouth as filthy as the average non-PR-equipped person (exhibit A: Banks, Azealia). But in Adele’s case, this might actually be justified, considering the lengths she went to swear even when her voice and the world’s technology tried to thwart her:
“I had an application on my phone that you type the words into it and then it speaks it. But the great thing is I love to swear. Most [apps] you can’t swear on, but I found this one app where you can swear, so I’m still really getting my point across.”
This might even work out for Adele! Should something other than 21 ever top the album charts, she could swing an endorsement deal really easily: “_________. The app you can swear on.” The full episode airs Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern on CBS.
