The Popdust Files: fred durst, karaoke, wtf

What’s weirder: Fred Durst hanging out with Nick Swardson and fellow Reno 911 star Cedric Yarbrough, or the fact that Durst owns baseball caps in colors other than red? The Limp Bizkit frontman and divisive pop culture figure stopped by a Los Angeles-area karaoke night on Monday with bros in tow to sing a few ditties and create a memorable night for those who look back fondly on metal/rap renditions of George Michael songs. According to TMZ the trio performed hits like “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley, while Durst busted out his own song—an a cappella, beat-boxed version of “Nookie,” but still—breaking a largely unwritten karaoke rule. We are always fans of celebrity karaoke, particularly when fans are involved—it’s always fun to realize a (onetime) notable figure has graced your local watering hole—even if this is all an effort to go method in preparation for his upcoming CBS project. Although it pains us to admit we remember each lyric, it’s even harder to admit that this is not half bad.
