The Popdust Files: missy elliott, timbaland

For certain people, this is more exciting than the Grammys, “Glory,” Beyonce in public and the Born This Way stage set combined.
Missy was last seen, depending on how deeply into pop you look, on Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.We’ve Got People Willing To Throw A Verse Onto A Remix Still),” J. Cole’s “Nobody’s Perfect” or Demi Lovato’s “All Night Long.” The latter had Timbaland, too, who’s had a few more guest appearances but nothing near as glorious as a few years ago. (A few years ago meaning before Shock Value II, thank you.)

The plan for 2012, now, is for Timbaland (who might be talking about Shock Value III) and Missy to release solo albums in June simultaneously. Details are scant, but nevertheless, Timbaland told MTV News:

“Right now, we’re preparing to get both our videos, our first singles, shot kinda at the same time. We want to do it as a movement and spontaneously.

We don’t seriously have to tell you why this is promising, do we? We’re all in agreement that we don’t have to write a couple hundred words on why Missy and Timbaland are awesome separately and in tandem, yes? Good.
