The Popdust Files: born to die, lana del rey

In her March cover story, Lana Del Rey tells Vogue UK that she’s so happy with the end result of much talked/blogged/harped about album Born to Die, she’s not sure she needs to create anything else. “I don’t think I’ll write another record,” she explains. “What would I say? I feel like everything I wanted to say, I’ve said already.” Oh really? You mean to tell us this was all a test to see how many words could be written about her on the Internet on any given day? (Ugh, she’s won again.) Del Rey continues, divulging that the inspiration for much of the BTD tracks came from her crazier, substance-fueled past: “The album is a tribute to living life on the wild side. I’m sort of kidding because I’m not that wild any more…used to drink a lot. Too much. I haven’t had a drink for seven years now.” Think about this carefully before you react. No more music from Del Rey means existing fans will have to subside on one full-length LP until the end of time, and that angry music writers who’ve churned out numerous pieces since she emerged as the non-Lizzy Grant last year must find new inspiration for hate-pieces. Is either group ready?
