What The Sam Hill Is Going On In This Busta Rhymes Video?

The Popdust Files: Busta Rhymes, chris brown, music videos, why stop now
Any Busta Rhymes/Chris Brown collaboration has expectations tied to it, after “Look At Me Now” rebooted both of their careers (Busta for timeliness, Chris for–well, you know). But the video for their track, “Why Stop Now,” can be safely said to defy any expectation, because there’s no way anyone was expecting any part of this video. There are so many questions for the asking! For instance:
* What is Chris Brown even doing here, and more pertinently, why does he still have platinum blond hair?
* Why does Busta Rhymes turn into something that’s either a crow from Hitchcock’s The Birds or a locust amid a plague?
* Why, besides trendiness, is there a YouTube screenshot of this Busta Rhymes video? Why didn’t they get the font right when photoshopping its view count to variable-overflow Hades? Why is the screenshot from the user jackmosley06? Why was he searching for “busta rhymes arab” in another window? Why is he looking at a Daily Mail blog about journalism ethics? Seriously, just look at this:
* How recursive can that Busta-in-front-of-screens part even get?
* Why is Busta a pink-gowned ruler on a throne with golden lions, and why is there a guy kneeling with a crown? (Because he can have everything, we get it, but still.)
* Why is Busta at a protest that gets raided, and why does his entire face turn into diamonds? Why is there just one cop car at the raid? Why don’t they shoot–is his face bulletproof?
* Why does it work? Because it does work. Maybe it’s because it pairs Busta’s verses with imagery just as frenetic. Or maybe we’re still a little stunned and confused. It’s going to take multiple rewatches to figure out.
